Want to see what products I use and recommend while supporting DSS? Read on…
The links below are by and large affiliate links. Affiliate links don’t cost you any extra. But they do kick back a little money to me to help support my fabric buying… habit my projector buying habit…this channel. So, for example, as an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases on Amazon. Pattern and fabric companies listed below will also likely be companies I have affiliates with.

“Amazon” Projectors
These are fairly popular in the Projectors for Sewing group. The biggest consideration is making sure the resolution is high enough (the second number should be at least 720 native) and that you’ve got the ceiling height for the throw. You can read more here about those considerations and see how to set them up here.

Short Throws
Short Throw projectors are how I started down this journey! Read more here. Below are some links to possible projectors for you.
Epson 420 Epson 410 Promethean ViewSonic BenQ
Basic Niche
These projector mounts for the “Amazon” projectors are made by a member of Projectors for Sewing. This is not an affiliate but I would appreciate you letting them know I sent you if you choose to buy one.
Portable Mounts
Some projector sewists aren’t able or ready to commit to mounting a projector. You have options! Amazon projectors lend themselves to be mounted on portable or temporary mounts.
Check this topic on the Projectors for sewing Facebook group for some ideas on portable mounts. I also briefly mention them here.
Ultra Short Throws & Mounts
Ultra Short Throws are a little different in that they don’t need a mount! They have their own pros and cons, which you can read here, along with how to set one up.
Plans to make your own UST mount available through my husband’s website!
Projector Software
Adobe Reader
Adobe Reader is the free version of Adobe that works best for PC/Mac projecting. It’s a simple program but we can do quite a lot with it, from simply projecting to a few basic pattern adjustments. Checkout the playlist for more!
PDF Stitcher
PDF Stitcher was created by one of our own projector sewists. Charlotte took her knowledge of programing and projector sewing to create a computer program that cuts out some of the most tedious and frustrating steps of projector sewing-putting a letter/A4 pattern into a useable file for projecting, adding a margin around a pattern for easier navigation, and fixing the width and color of pattern lines. It is an opensource software, which means it’s free for you to use and she welcomes input from other programmers!
Affinity Designer
Affinity Designer is a one-time paid program that allows us to change the very lines of a pattern to get into the nitty-gritty pattern adjustments needed to make a pattern fit you! It’s an extremely robust program with so much potential to take your projector sewing to the next level!
